This project was directed towards developing strategic planning tools of water resources in Egypt based on Environmental Balance.  The project presented a comprehensive methodology for the integration of environmental and socio-economic aspects in the analysis of water resources scenarios and development measures that help drawing sustainable polices. Within the project a computer-based Decision Support System (DDS) was designed and constructed to implement the above methodology.

In general, the integration of environmental and socio-economic aspects have lead to policies regarding water availability, agricultural production, water pollution, human welfare, ...etc, and have enlightened tradeoffs that have to be accepted among different and conflicting objectives.

This project provided consulting services to the Strategic Research Unit that included participation in model development, and the development of decision support system for water resources planning under environmental balance.
